Gustavo Duarte is a Brazilian cartoonist, comic creator and graphic designer, born in São Paulo in 1977. He graduated with a degree in Graphic Design from Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp - Bauru) in 1999.

He first started his cartoonist and illustrating career at the newspaper Diário de
Bauru, between 1997 and 1999. In January of 2000, he returned to São Paulo and since then started to collaborate with major magazines and newspapers in Brazil; among them Lance! and Folha de S. Paulo- where he published regularly for over ten years.

In 2009, he began creating his own comics as both writer and artist with books like “Có!”, “Taxi”, “Birds” and “Monsters!”. These titles have been published in Brazil, USA, Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Argentina,Uruguay and Chile.

He has also contributed his work to the US market with publishers like DC Comics, Marvel, Dark Horse and others. “DC Silent Tales”, “Bizarro”, “Dear Justice League”, “Dear DC Super-Villains”, “Spider-Verse - Unlimited”, “Guardians of the Galaxy”, “Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” and “Lockjaw” are some of the major works he has contributed at the big two.

Gustavo currently has returned to his creator-owned roots and is writing and drawing a new graphic novel set to be published in Brazil soon.
