James Stokoe is a Canadian writer and artist known for his distinct style of hyper detailed cartooning. Stokoe combines frenetic action with the absurd fantastic and balances out the blend with a healthy dose of dick and fart jokes.
Stokoe has made an impact in the industry working on both storied properties and his own creations. In the world of IP, James has contributed influential graphic novels to such franchises as Godzilla and Alien with Half Century War and Dead Orbit. At Marvel, he's had a chance to draw Deadpool, Moon Knight and even alternate universe Avengers in Squadron Supreme. Over on the other side of the big two, Stokoe has established himself as a regular cover artist and teamed up with James Tynion IV to create the origin story for Clownhunter, a new Batman character, who Stokoe depicted in the pages of The Joker War Zone and Batman : Annual #5.
While these accomplishments are notable in their own right, Stokoe's creator owned work is where he has truly shined. His first longform comic began at Oni Press on Wonton Soup, a space trucker cooking epic that ran for two volumes. He followed that up with Orc Stain, his fan-favorite and long running fantasy series that introduced the world to gronchs.
After having sucessfully created his most fullfilling work yet ,not only with Orc Stain, but the massively popular indie hit Sobek; Stokoe was able to begin another passion project- The Orphan and the Five Beasts. Published at Dark Horse Comics, Orphan brings Stokoe's brand of comic madness to the world of kung-fu and martial arts. The first arc of the adventures of Orphan Mo wrapped in 2022 but will return next year with a brand new volume.
